Congress’ stance on Places of Worship Act against Santan culture: BJP

PNS | DEHRADUN

The Bharatiya Janata Party has stated that the stance taken by the Congress party in the matter of the Places of Worship Act is clearly against the Sanatan culture of the nation. The BJP State president Mahendra Bhatt said that whether it be the Delhi Vidhan Sabha or the Uttarakhand urban local body elections, the Congress is concerned mainly about a particular community. This is the reason why the public will teach the Congress a lesson in both Delhi and Uttarakhand, he said.

Bhatt strongly condemned the step taken by the Congress, questioning its decision to approach the Supreme Court to quash the petitions seeking a review of the Act in question. He said that even in the past, the Congress leaders and lawyers had advocated strongly against the Ram Janmabhumi Mandir construction for decades. “Continuing its policy of appeasement, it has once again targeted Muslim votes in the Delhi elections and approached the court to deprive the Hindus of the right to appeal regarding their religious and historical sites. The Congress has once again shown its anti-Sanatan face to the public. Its support of the law in question is an attempt to snatch from the Hindus the right to adopt legal measures against the historical injustices they have faced,” the BJP State president said.

Bhatt further alleged that the Congress has always ignored the interests of the Hindus. He said that it was this very Congress which agreed to the partition of India on religious basis. This party later enacted the Waqf Act on the basis of religion to provide unlimited power to a particular community to usurp land. An amendment was made later to prevent the public from even legally challenging the authority of the Waqf board. “The Congress maintained its stance and enacted the Places of Worship Act which was intended to prevent the Hindus from ascertain the reality of the injustice and torture they had faced for many years. This was aimed at preventing the followers of Sanatan culture from regaining their religious, cultural and historical identity and religious places by using the legal means,” Bhatt said.

The BJP State president said that the people in Uttarakhand and across the nation have once again seen the anti-Sanatan face of the Congress. The people understand the Congress wants the votes of a particular community in Delhi and Uttarakhand. This is the reason why the people of Uttarakhand will teach the Congress a lesson in the urban local body elections, he said.
