The workers and leaders of Uttarakhand Congress will hold Jalabhishek on the idols of lord Shiva on the occasion of Mahashivratri on Saturday and pray for what they call better sense to prevail on the State government.
On the last day of the seven day protest of the party against the use of force by the police on the unemployed in Dehradun on February 9, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said on Thursday that on the occasion of Shivratri, the Congress workers having faith in the Sanatan Dharma would offer prayers for better sense to the government and for the disclosure of the name of the VIP involved in the murder of Ankita Bhandari. The workers would also offer prayers that the people of the State should get freed from the BJP government which has used brutal force on the students.
Mahara said that the brutal manner in which the police used force on the students demanding justice in the paper leak cases has exposed the law and order condition and maligned the image of the State. He warned that the BJP government should stop testing the patience of the unemployed. Exhorting the unemployed to hit the roads, the PCC president said that the Congress party is standing firmly with them. He said that there is a clear involvement of the people having links with the ruling BJP in all the recruitment scams. The PCC president claimed that the BJP is patronising the copying mafia. He demanded that a high level inquiry should be ordered in the use of brutal force on the unemployed on February 8 and 9 and said that the government should ensure that the officers responsible for the act are punished.
Pratapnagar MLA Vikram Singh Negi, Piran Kalier MLA Furkan Ahmed, former minister Surveer Singh Sajwan, Hira Singh Bishtm former MLA Vijay Pal Sajwan, Vice president Mathura Dutt Joshi, Surya Kant Dhasmana, Garima Dasauni and others were present on the occasion.
