The Vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Suryakant Dhasmana has said that the party will soon resume the Kedarnath Pratishta Raksha Yatra. The Yatra from Haridwar to Kedarnath was led by the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara and was suspended on August 1 after rain triggered disaster in Kedarnath valley. Interacting with the media persons at the State headquarters of the party on Tuesday, Dhasmana said that the State government was forced to take a U- turn on the issue of construction of Kedarnath temple by a self confessed Kedarnath Dham trust after the protest by the Teerth Purohits, stakeholders, locals and the Congress party.
He said that though the trust has decided not to construct Kedarnath temple in Buradi of New Delhi and has blocked the QR code for seeking donation from the general public it has not disclosed the total donation it has received. Dhasmana demanded that the trust surrender the donation it had received in the name of Kedarnath Dham to Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) and give back the sacred stone (Shila) transported from Kedarnath.
He said that the Congress party had started the Yatra to Kedarnath on the issue of restoring the pride of the Kedarnath Dham and missing gold from the temple. He said that the BKTC and government are unable to answer as to where the 230 kg gold has gone and how it got converted into Brass. Dhasmana added that the name of sacred Krishna Mai cave in Kedarnath was changed to Modi cave and the Congress wants that the name of the cave should be after Krishna Mai who had meditated there for years.
