Congress welcomes Aggarwal’s resignation

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The Congress has welcomed the decision of cabinet minister Prem Chand Aggarwal to tender his resignation. The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara said that it is good that Aggarwal repented and tendered his resignation.

He requested the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to accept the resignation at the earliest. The Bharatiya Janata Party State president Mahendra Bhatt too should learn a lesson and control his language, Mahara said, while referring to Bhatt’s recent comments referring to protestors as ‘Sadak Chhap’ when many including statehood activists congregated to protest in the State’s summer capital Gairsain recently.

The PCC president questioned how Aggarwal, being a statehood activist, could have forgotten how and at what cost the statehood was achieved.  “You said something wrong. I thank the people of the Terai, Bhabar, Jaunsar and the Pahad for strongly registering their opposition. I request the CM to accept Aggarwal’s resignation at the earliest. At the same time, the BJP State president should also reconsider his attitude and think before speaking ill of the State’s people,” the PCC president said.
