Thursday, 13 October 2022 | PNS | DEHRADUN

In protest against the silence of the women leaders of BJP on the Ankita Bhandari murder case, the derogatory remarks made by BJP leader Banshidhar Bhagat on the Hindu deities and an attempt to stifle the voice of their spokesperson Garima Dasauni, the Congress workers held a protest in Dehradun on Thursday.

Led by the officiating president of Mahanagar Congress, Jasvinder Singh Gogi the Congress workers also burned the effigy of the state government. Speaking on the occasion, Gogi said that the gruesome murder of Ankita Bhandari is an issue of serious concern for women safety in the State. He alleged that serious lapses occurred in the investigation of the case, evidence was destroyed by use of a bulldozer and fire. Gogi said that the police and administration are shying from disclosing the identity of the VIP in whose name the murder was committed. He said that an atmosphere of fear prevails in the State.  Gogi added that the chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress Garima Dasauni had submitted a complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun in which she had said that her right to privacy was breached but the police took no heed of the complaint.

However the police took instant note of the complaint lodged by the BJP leader Neha Sharma and registered a case against Dasauni.  The Congress leader said that the cases of rape, dacoity, and murder and child abuse are increasing in the state and general public is feeling insecure. He added that the BJP leader Banshidhar Bhagat is openly denigrating the Hindu deities.

Garima Dasauni, Puran Singh Rawat, Mahendra Singh Negi and others attended the protest.
