In latest news from Uttarakhand, in response to the appeal of senior Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, the State Congress halted its Kedarnath Prathistha Raksha Yatra- launched from Haridwar by the State Congress on July 24- at Sitapur. This appeal came a day after rain-triggered tragedy struck the Kedar valley. The State Congress chief Karan Mahara said that the yatra would resume at Sitapur after the situation becomes normal. Gandhi also urged the Congress leaders and workers to plunge themselves into the relief operations for the affected people.
Notably, the State Congress launched the yatra to protest against the construction of a replica of Kedarnath Dham in Delhi.
