Terms Ambedkar a valuable heritage of Congress party
The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Karan Mahara has said that the constitution drafted by BR Ambedkar and its values are consistently being attacked. He said that the people sitting in power are determined to murder the constitution. He was addressing a seminar organised on the occasion of the birth anniversary of BR Ambedkar at the head office of Uttarakhand Congress on Friday. Terming Ambedkar a valuable heritage of the Congress party, Mahara said that it is the responsibility of every one to safeguard this heritage. Paying rich tributes to Ambedkar, the PCC president greeted everyone on the birth anniversary of the architect of the constitution.
Launching an attack on the State government he said that the Uttarakhand issued a notification on September 16, 2022 to bring changes in the Uttarakhand State educational (teaching cadre) regulation by which the reservation at par with the direct recruitment has been removed in the departmental examination of teachers done through the public service commission. He said that it appears that the Uttarakhand government is working in the direction of ending the reservation of SC,STs and OBC. The PCC president alleged that the government has reduced the budget of education schemes for SC and ST this year.
Mahara said that last year a sum of Rs 446.07 crore was earmarked for educational development of SC, ST, OBC and minorities which has been reduced to Rs 151.59 crore this year.
Speaking on the occasion, the Congress Mahanagar president Jaswinder Singh Gogi said that Baba Saheb had a great personality and he played a major role in bringing change in the society. For Dalit he is not less than god. Gogi said that Ambedkar had undertaken a campaign to remove the caste based discrimination prevalent in the society. The party’s vice president (organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi, general secretary Vijay Saraswat, Garima Dasauni, Nanakchand, Puran Singh Rawat, Godavri Thapli, Asha Tamta and others were present on the occasion.
