In what can be termed as a very disturbing trend the contagion of the Covid 19 is increasing in the mountainous districts of Uttarakhand. The data of the Social Development for Communities (SDC) foundation suggests that a total of 19100 cases were reported from nine mountainous districts from May 1 to 10.
During this period the state reported a total of 69293 cases. These nine districts now constitute about 28 percent of total cases in the state. Among the hill districts, Tehri reported 3211, Pauri 2898, Uttarkashi 2599, Chamoli 2217, Champawat 2037, Almora 1856, Pithoragarh 1684, Bageshwar 1304 and Rudraprayag 1294 cases in last ten days. The experts opine that an increase in infection in mountainous areas of the state is very disturbing since they lack health facilities.
