Contagion taking heavy toll on Doon
The provisional state capital of Dehradun is reeling under a severe onslaught of Covid-19. Apart from having the highest number of active patients, Dehradun district accounts for a lion’s share in the number of deaths from the disease in the state. Out of the total 1892 deaths reported so far in the state, Dehradun alone accounts for 1087 deaths.
On Monday 22 out of total 24 deaths were reported from Dehradun. Here eight deaths were reported from Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital. Similarly seven deaths from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, four from Kailash hospital and three from Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun were reported. Two deaths were reported from HNB Base hospital Srinagar on the day.
Dehradun also has the highest backlog of untested samples of the disease. In the state 25743 samples are yet to be tested out of which 8024 are in Dehradun only.
