Contract workers appointed during pandemic will be reinstated- Minister

In a major declaration on the occasion of World Health Day, the Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that all the contractual workers appointed during the Covid pandemic and removed recently would be reinstated. He made this declaration while addressing a programme organised by the state health department on Thursday. The Minister said that the department has sought details of vacant posts in all the medical colleges and government hospitals and the contracted workers of UPNL, PRD and others appointed during the first and second wave of the pandemic would be adjusted on these posts. A proposal in this regard would be brought before the cabinet soon. The minister said that the contractual workers performed appreciably during the pandemic and supported the department during challenging times. There are about 1600 such workers who were appointed in different wings of the department during the first and second wave of the pandemic. The minister asserted that the health department would be made 100 per cent digital in next six months which will improve the transparency in the system.
Rawat declared that the department would organise a two day ‘ Chintan Shivir’ in which all stakeholders would participate. The deliberation during the Shivir would help in creating a one year work plan of the department.
