Cooler weather continues after snowfall and rain, more forecast in mountains today

Comparatively cooler weather continued in Dehradun and other parts of the State on Sunday following snowfall in the higher reaches and rain in the lower altitudes and plains on Saturday. Similar weather is expected in some mountainous districts on Monday. The State Meteorological Centre has forecast that very light to light rainfall is likely at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts while dry weather is likely to prevail in the rest of the districts today.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a mainly clear to partly cloudy sky with the maximum and minimum temperatures likely to be about 26 degrees Celsius and nine degrees Celsius respectively.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in various parts of the State on Sunday were 25.2 degrees Celsius and 8.6 degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun, 26.5 degrees Celsius and 7.1 degrees Celsius in Pantnagar, 17.2 degrees Celsius and 2.2 degrees Celsius in Mukteshwar and 14.6 degrees Celsius and 3.2 degrees Celsius in New Tehri. While the maximum temperature was three degrees Celsius above normal in Dehradun, the minimum temperature was a degree below normal. The maximum was two degrees above normal and the minimum was a degree below normal in Pantnagar. Similarly, the maximum temperature was four degrees above normal in Mukteshwar while both the maximum and minimum temperatures were a degree each below normal in New Tehri.
