The Cooperatives department has taken up a target to computerise all 758 Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (MPACS) of Uttarakhand. Most of the MPACS in the country are not computerised at present. This affects their efficiency and also reduces the faith of the general public. On Thursday the secretary of the ministry of Cooperatives, Gyanesh Kumar took a virtual review meeting of the cooperative secretaries of the States. The Uttarakhand cooperatives secretary BVRC Purushottam participated in the virtual meeting from the office of Dehradun based State Integrated Cooperative Development Project. He said that 100 MPACS in the state have been computerised and made online on completion of 100 days of CM Pushkar Singh Dhami in office. He said that the process of the computerisation of remaining MPACS is at present in progress and all 758 MPACS would get computerised within the next few months. He said that the data of the National Cooperative Policy would be made available to the centre in 15 days. It is pertinent to mention here that the union cabinet has approved a sum of Rs 2,516 crore for computerisation of all the 63,000 PACS of the country and the proposal had been cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) on Wednesday.
