Corbett director served show cause notice

The director of Corbett tiger reserve, Rahul has been served with a show cause notice seeking an explanation for serious irregularities and violations of service rules in the execution of various works in the protected area under his jurisdiction. The notice issued by additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan states that the five-member inquiry committee formed to probe into allegations of irregularities in various works in Corbett has observed serious anomalies. It states that the committee in its inquiry report has observed serious administrative, financial, legal and criminal irregularities in construction of Kandi Road, construction of buildings in Morghatti and Pakhro forest rest houses, construction of water reservoir near Pakhro forest rest house and illegal tree felling in the proposed tiger safari area in Pakhro. The recommendations in the inquiry report state that the actions of the Corbett director are also against the All India Services (Conduct) Rules,

1968. Bardhan states that he has been directed that as per the committee’s report and recommendations of the principal chief conservator of forests (head of forest force), Rahul is required to submit his clarification on the charges within 15 days of receiving the show cause notice.
