Corbett reopened for tourists after monsoon break

After remaining closed to visitors during the monsoon, the Bijrani and Garjiya zones of the Corbett national park were reopened for visitors on Sunday. The MLA representative Madan Joshi and Corbett director Dhiraj Pande inaugurated the Bijrani zone by flagging off vehicles carrying tourists into the zone.

Similarly, the Garjiya zone was inaugurated by the eco development committee head Govind Vallabh Joshi. Considerable enthusiasm was seen among the visitors on the first day of these two popular zones of the famous Corbett national park being reopened for tourists. Sources stated that the visitors were all the more thrilled on sighting a tiger at Kichar Road and Zero Point watchtower in Bijrani zone.

According to officials 30 vehicles were allowed during the morning and the same number was allowed in the evening shift to carry tourists in the Bijrani and Garjiya zones. Forest department officials, nature guides and Gypsy drivers were also among those present on the occasion along with the tourists.
