Corbett’s beloved Gomati breathes her last

Gomati, a much appreciated and well trained elephant of the Corbett national park breathed her last on Monday. She had played a role in the successful rescue of a number of tigers in the Corbett landscape. The staff of the national park paid tributes to the cow elephant before disposing of the body. Corbett director Saket Badola said that the 66-year-old Gomati had been unwell since October 4 in the Dhikala area of the national park. She was brought to the elephant centre in Kalagarh range. Senior veterinary officer Dr Dushyant Sharma was supervising her treatment. She died due to age related issues on Monday. Corbett deputy director Rahul Mishra, Dr Sharma and others paid tributes to the pachyderm before the disposal of her body.
