Council of ministers authorises CM to take final decision on Kumbh

Rawat to talk with Akhadas & then decide in pursuance of HC orders and Centre’s SOPs

The council of ministers has authorised the chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat to take a decision regarding the earlier high court directions and recent standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the centre regarding the Kumbh Mela 2021 in Haridwar. The CM will talk to the Akhadas and then take a decision in this regard. Cabinet minister and state government spokesman Madan Kaushik said this while informing the media about decisions taken in the meeting of the council of ministers and cabinet meeting held at the secretariat on Tuesday.

Kaushik said that all aspects of the SOPs issued by the centre for the Kumbh Mela were discussed in detail by the council of ministers. The ministers discussed aspects including fixing the maximum limit for the number of people allowed to attend the Kumbh in a day, RT-PCR tests, the logistics and facilities needed for that and other issues. It was then decided that the CM will take the final decision regarding the Kumbh Mela in pursuance of the HC orders and Central government SOPs after discussion with the Akhil Bharatiya Akhada Parishad (ABAP).

Five points were taken up in the meeting of the cabinet of which one point was deferred to the next meeting. An important decision taken by the cabinet was to hold the budget session of the Assembly in the summer capital Gairsain from March 1 to 10. The budget will be presented in the Assembly on March 4. Further, the cabinet approved 97 posts out of the 127 posts sought for the Jal Jeevan Mission in the state. It also approved the organisational structure of the mission. Regarding the members of the district level committees under the district magistrate as part of the Swachchh Bharat mission, it was decided that persons nominated by MPs, MLAs and ministers would also be made members of the committees.
