Covid-19; 124 new cases, 244 recoveries in U’khand

The state health department reported 124 new cases and 244 recoveries from the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Thursday. With it the cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state increased to 3,40,379 while a total of 3,25,253 patients have so far recovered from the disease. Death of one patient from Covid-19 was reported by the health department on the day which increased the death toll from the disease to 7324 in the state. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 95.56 and the sample positivity rate is at 6.13 percent in the state. The authorities collected 23,456 samples in different parts of the state on Thursday.

Death of only one patient was reported in the state on the day and it occurred at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital. The department also reported seven backlog deaths on the day. These deaths had occurred in the past but were unreported earlier.

The department reported 31 patients from Dehradun, 23 from Pithoragarh, 12 from Nainital, 11 from Haridwar, seven each from Chamoli, Champawat and Uttarkashi on Thursday. All other districts reported six and fewer cases on the day.

The state now has 1,966 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district is at top of the table in the list of active cases with 753 cases while Pithoragarh is in the second position with 266 active cases. Bageshwar has 186, Nainital 127, Chamoli 109, Pauri 106, Champawat 81, Haridwar 80, Tehri and Rudraprayag 58 each, Almora 52, Uttarkashi 46, and Udham Singh Nagar 44 active cases of the disease.  

 The state reported four new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Thursday. A total of 499 patients of the disease have so far been reported in the state out of which 95 have died. In the ongoing vaccination drive, the health department vaccinated 44,959 people in 507 sessions held on the day.  A total of 8,36,177 people have been fully vaccinated so far in the state while 36,07,401 have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
