Covid-19; 158 new cases, four deaths on Saturday in U’khand

The state health department reported 158 new cases and 187 recoveries from the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) on Saturday.  The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state has now increased to 3,40,646 while a total of 3,25,548 patients have so far recovered from the disease. Death of four patients from Covid-19 was reported by the health department on the day which increased the death toll from the disease to 7331 in the state. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 95.57 and the sample positivity rate is at 6.08 per cent in the state. The authorities collected 24,178 samples in different parts of the state on Saturday.

Death of two patients was reported at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun while one person each died at HNB base hospital Srinagar and Arogyam hospital Roorkee, Haridwar.  

The department reported 80 patients from Dehradun, 21 from Uttarkashi, 14 from Pithoragarh, 11 from Haridwar, eight from Tehri, six from Nainital and five from Pauri. All the other districts reported less than five cases on the day.

The state now has 1,821 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district is at top of the table in the list of active cases with 779 cases while Bageshwar is in the second position with 186 active cases. Pithoragarh has 135, Nainital 129, Pauri 115, Chamoli 102, Champawat 80, Uttarkashi 65, Tehri 63, Rudraprayag 52, Almora 49 Haridwar 34 and Udham Singh Nagar 32 active cases of the disease.  

 The state reported four new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) on Saturday. A total of 506 patients of the disease have so far been reported in the state out of which 104 have died. In the ongoing vaccination drive, the health department vaccinated 43,126 people in 470 sessions held on the day.  A total of 8,61,076 people have been fully vaccinated so far in the state while 36,56,128 have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
