A total of 29 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the state on Sunday. This is the highest number of new positive cases in a single day after a period of two months in the state. According to information provided by the health department, while 29 new cases reported, 10 patients recovered in the state on Sunday. There are currently 177 active cases of Covid in the state with the recovery percentage standing at 96.01.

Of the new cases reported on Sunday, 18 were in Dehradun district, six in Almora, two each in Haridwar and Nainital while one was reported from Uttarkashi district. When it comes to the active cases of the disease, Dehradun district has 128, Almora has 20, Champawat has three, Haridwar has eight, Nainital has even, Pauri has two, Pithoragarh has one, Udham Singh Nagar has two while Uttarkashi district has six active cases.

Expressing concern at the situation, the founder of Social Development for Communities (SDC) foundation, Anoop Nautiyal said that the last time when the highest number of cases was reported in a single day in Uttarakhand was on September 15 when 49 cases were reported in the state. He stressed that while the government and health department need to focus on vaccination and testing, the people need to observe social distancing and wear mask while remaining alert against the virus.

Meanwhile, 566 vaccination sessions were held in the state on Sunday in which 24,999 beneficiaries were vaccinated.The state has partially vaccinated 75, 14, 022 beneficiaries and fully vaccinated 43,32,669 beneficiaries.  While 20,82,668 beneficiaries in the 18-44 years age group have been fully vaccinated, 45,24,648 in the age group have been partially vaccinated in the state so far.
