Covid-19; 3,998 new cases, 19 deaths in U’khand

The second wave of the contagion of Covid-19 is continuing in Uttarakhand with alarming intensity. After a record 4807 cases on Wednesday the state health department reported 3998 new patients of the disease on Thursday.
The cumulative count of the patients in the state now stands at 138010. The authorities also reported the death of 19 patients on Thursday which increased the death toll to 1972 in the state.
The health department discharged 1744 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery from the disease on Thursday. A total of 106271 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage has now dropped to 77 percent. The sample positivity rate is 3.98 percent in the state.
In Dehradun 1564 new patients of the disease were reported on Thursday. Similarly 666 patients were found in Haridwar district, 523 in Udham Singh Nagar, 434 in Nainital district, 229 in Pauri, 139 in Tehri, 112 in Almora, 84 in Uttarkashi, 74 in Rudraprayag, 72 in Champawat, 38 in Pithoragarh and 29 in Chamoli district on Thursday.
The health department reported deaths of five patients from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, four each from Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital and Himalayan hospital Dehradun, two from Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun and one each from Base hospital Kotdwar, Arihant Hospital Dehradun, Max hospital and Swami Bhumanand Hospital Haridwar on the Thursday.
The state now has 26980 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 9798 patients, Haridwar has 7398, Nainital 3131, Udham Singh Nagar 2253, Pauri 1206, Tehri 987, Almora 506, Rudraprayag 380, Champawat 355, Uttarkashi 317, Chamoli 275,
Bageshwar 197 and Pithoragarh 177 active cases of Covid-19.
In the ongoing vaccination drive which is most important in safeguarding people against Covid-19, the state health department vaccinated 34020 people in different parts of the state on Thursday. In the state 297181 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 658 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Thursday.
