Covid-19; 83 % of active cases of the disease in four plain districts
The pandemic is following the pattern of last year when the cases initially increased in plain districts
In an alarming reminder of the growth pattern of the pandemic of Covid-19 in the initial stages last year, the cases of the disease are again increasing in the plain districts of Uttarakhand. The four plain districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital now constitute 83 percent of the active cases of the disease. These districts have 770 active patients out of 930 total active cases of the state. It should be recalled that last year also the plain districts initially had the majority of the cases and then the pandemic slowly spread to the mountainous districts.
The state health department reported 94 new cases of the disease on Tuesday. The state now has 98646 cumulative patients of the disease. Death of two patients of the disease was reported by the department on the day. The disease has so far claimed 1706 lives in the state.
The authorities discharged 52 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Tuesday. A total of 94585 patients have recovered from the disease in the state so far and the recovery percentage is now at 95.88 and the sample positivity rate is 3.71 percent.
The state health department reported 47 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 20 from Haridwar, 10 from Tehri, eight from Nainital, six from Chamoli, two from Udham Singh Nagar and one from Rudraprayag on Tuesday. No new cases of the disease were reported from Almora, Bageshwar, Tehri, Pithoragarh and Uttarkashi districts on the day. The state now has 930 active patients of the disease. Haridwar district is at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 351 patients, Dehradun has 248, Udham Singh Nagar 91, Nainital 80, Pauri 35, Tehri 27, Almora 25, Champawat 17, Uttarkashi 14 and Rudraprayag 14 each and Bageshwar and Pithoragarh seven active patients of the disease each.
The administration made the Golway cottage, Saint George School, Barloganj in Mussoorie, Dehradun as a containment zone.
Meanwhile in the ongoing vaccination drive, 31337 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Tuesday. In the state 116206 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. A total of 240598 senior citizens (60 Plus) have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state. Similarly 15554 persons in the age group of 45-59 years having co-morbidity have been vaccinated. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 397 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state Tuesday.
