Covid-19 contagion assumes explosive proportions in Uttarakhand

27 deaths, 3,012 new cases of the disease reported in a day
The contagion of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) is continuing its explosive growth in Uttarakhand. On Tuesday the state health department reported 3,012 new cases which is a record for a single day of Covid-19 cases. With increasing infection the fatalities are also on upswing. On Tuesday 27 deaths were reported by the health department after which the death toll from the disease mounted to 1,919 in the state. The state now has 1,29,205 cumulative cases of the disease. In the last six days more than 13,000 new cases of the disease have been reported in Uttarakhand.
The health department discharged 734 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery from the disease on Tuesday. A total of 1,03,633 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage has now dropped further to 80.21 and the sample positivity rate is 3.81 percent.
In Dehradun 999 new patients of the disease were reported on Tuesday. Similarly 796 patients were found in Haridwar district, 565 from Udham Singh Nagar,258 from Nainital, 137 from Tehri, 80 from Pauri, 66 from Almora, 28 each from Champawat and Pithoragarh, 24 from Chamoli, 13 from Bageshwar, 12 from Rudraprayag and six from Uttarkashi.
The health department reported deaths of nine patients from Sushila Tiwari government hospital, four each from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and Himalayan hospital, three from Kailash hospital Dehradun, two each from Mahant Indiresh, HNB Base hospital Srinagar and Vinay Vishal Hospital Roorkee on Tuesday. One patient died in an ambulance in Tehri district.
The state now has 21,014 active patients of the disease which is the highest ever since the pandemic started on March 15 last year. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 8,051 patients, Haridwar has 6091, Nainital 2099, Udham Singh Nagar 1588, Pauri 844, Tehri 790, Almora 363, Rudraprayag 263, Champawat 276, Chamoli 193, Uttarkashi 180, Bageshwar 155 and Pithoragarh 121 active cases of Covid-19.
In the vaccination drive 66,726 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Tuesday. In the state 2,72,570 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine.
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 657 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Tuesday.
