Covid-19 contagion on a downward trend in state
No death from the disease reported on Friday
In a welcome sign and clear indication that the contagion of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) is on a downward trend in Uttarakhand even as no death from the disease was reported by the state health department on Friday. The department reported only 78 new cases of the disease on the day. The state now has 95986 cases of the disease and out of them 91713 has recovered from the disease. On Friday 116 patients were discharged from the hospitals following their recovery. The recovery percentage in the state now stands at 95.55 and the sample positivity rate is 4.54 percent. The authorities reported 35 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 21 from Nainital, 13 from Haridwar and five from Udham Singh Nagar on Friday. Two cases were reported from Pauri while one patient each was reported from Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts on the day. No new patients were reported from six districts of the state on Friday. These districts are Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Tehri.
The state now has only 1289 active cases of Covid-19. Dehradun district is at the top of the table of the active cases with 265 cases while Nainital is at second position with 243 cases. Haridwar has 174, Almora and Bageshwar 125 each, Udham Singh Nagar 97, Pithoragarh 69, Tehri 64, Pauri 55, Uttarkashi 25, Rudraprayag 22, Chamoli 16 and Champawat nine active cases of the disease.
