Covid 19 contagion showing signs of slowing down in U’khand

4,785 new cases, 7,019 recoveries reported on Tuesday

In an indication that the second wave of the contagion of Covid 19 could have passed its peak in Uttarakhand, the state health department reported 4,785 new cases of the disease on Tuesday. A total of 7,019 patients recovered from the disease on the day which is much higher than the new cases from the disease.

The department also reported the death of 79 patients on the day which increased the death toll in the state to 5230. The cumulative count of the Covid-19 patients in the state has now increased to 2,95,790.  The authorities also discharged 7,019 patients from different hospitals on the day after their recovery on Tuesday. The recovery percentage now stands at 70.72 while the sample positivity rate is 6.83 percent. 

Out of the 79 deaths reported on Tuesday, 17 deaths occurred in Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, 11 at Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani, eight at Himalayan hospital Dehradun and seven at HNB base hospital Srinagar. Similarly six patients of Covid-19 died at Max hospital Dehradun, five at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, four each at Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun, Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun, Bhumanand Hospital Haridwar and Military Hospital (MH) Roorkee, three at Kailash hospital Dehradun and two at District hospital Pithoragarh on the day.   

The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 1226 new cases of the disease on Tuesday. Haridwar reported 545, Pauri 509, Nainital 442, Udham Singh Nagar 372, Tehri 348, Almora 320, Rudraprayag 241, Chamoli 195, Uttarkashi 174, Bageshwar 161, Champawat 124, Pithoragarh 118 new cases of the disease on Tuesday.

The state now has 76,232 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues remains at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 25,145 patients; Haridwar has 13,281, Pauri 6,925, Udham Singh Nagar 5,961, Tehri 5,742, Nainital 5,699, Almora 2453, Rudraprayag 2347, Uttarkashi 2,127,Chamoli 2,093,  Pithoragarh 1,627, Bageshwar 1,422 and Champawat 1,412 active cases of the disease.  To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 549 containment zones in different parts of the state. 

In the ongoing vaccination drive 23,750 people were vaccinated in 375 sessions in different parts of the state on Tuesday. A total of 6,80,278 people have so far been fully vaccinated in the state while 19,92,031 have been partially vaccinated.
