Covid-19 death toll increases to 1146 in U’khand

The death toll from the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Uttarakhand climbed to 1146 on Saturday with the state health department reporting eight deaths from the disease. The department also reported 585 fresh cases of the disease on the day which further increased the tally of the disease to 70790 in the state. The authorities discharged 458 patients from different hospitals of the state after their complete recovery on Saturday. A total of 64851 patients have so far recovered from the disease in the state. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 91.61 while the sample positivity rate is 5.73 percent.

Two patients of the disease each were reported dead at the HNB base hospital Srinagar and District hospital Pithoragarh on Saturday. One person each of the disease was reported dead at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital Dehradun, Himalayan hospital, Dehradun, Neelkanth hospital Haldwani and Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani.        

Out of 458 patients discharged on Saturday, 167 were from Dehradun, 62 from Chamoli, 53 from Haridwar, 49 from Udham Singh Nagar, 33 from Rudraprayag and 30 from Nainital. 

The provisional state capital Dehradun is continuing to reel under the onslaught of the disease. The authorities reported 210 fresh cases of the disease on the day from Dehradun. Similarly 71 cases were reported from Nainital, 57 from Chamoli, 43 from Haridwar, 38 from Pauri, 34 from Pithoragarh, 31 from Tehri, 30 from Udham Singh Nagar, 28 from Rudraprayag, 24 from Almora, eight from Uttarkashi and six from Bageshwar on Saturday.

Uttarakhand now has 4166 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district with 1196 active cases is at top of table while with 427 active cases Pauri is now on second position. Nainital has 389, Haridwar 361, Chamoli 294, Tehri 284, Udham Singh Nagar 231, Pithoragarh 210, Almora and Rudraprayag 193 each, Uttarkashi 157 and Bageshwar 131 active cases of the disease. With 100 active cases of Covid-19, Champawat is at the bottom of the table.
