Covid-19: Infection spreading steadily in U’khand

The sudden increase in the positivity rate of Covid-19 is continuing to cause concern to the authorities and the people in Uttarakhand. On Monday the State Health department tested 1,427 swab samples for the presence of Covid-19 and out of them 117 samples were found positive for the disease. It means that the state had a very high positivity rate of 8.20 per cent on the day. The state health department reported 117 new cases of the disease from different parts of Uttarakhand on Monday. The death of no patient was reported from the disease in Uttarakhand on the day.
The authorities also declared 25 patients cured from the disease on the day. The department has so far detected 94,827 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year till date. A total of 90,500 patients have recovered from the disease so far in this year. The recovery percentage of the disease was at 95.44 per cent. A total of 284 patients have lost their lives to the disease this year in the state.
The health department reported 82 new patients from Dehradun, 12 from Nainital, seven from Haridwar, five from Udam Singh Nagar, three each from Chamoli, Pauri and Tehri and one each from Almora and Uttarkashi districts on Monday. No new cases were reported from Bageshwar, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Rudraprayag districts on the day.
The number of active patients of Covid-19 was at 674 on Monday. Dehradun with 492 cases is at the top of the table of active cases while Nainital 71 and Haridwar 52 active cases of the disease. Bageshwar, Champawat and Rudraprayag districts have no active cases of the disease.
In the ongoing vaccination drive 23,559 people were vaccinated in 889 sessions in the state held on Monday.
