Covid-19 record recoveries raise hope in Uttarakhand

7,005 patients recovered in a day. 109 deaths, 7,749 new cases reported on Wednesday
Amid the gloom generated by rapid increase in the contagion of covid-19 in Uttarakhand recovery of 7,005 patients in one day on Wednesday presented a positive streak. In fact this is the highest number of recoveries in the state ever since the pandemic started on March 15 last year. The state health department reported 7,749 new cases of the disease on Wednesday which increased the cumulative count of patients in the state to 2,64,683. The authorities also reported the death of 109 patients in different parts of the state on the day. The death toll in the state has now climbed to 4,123. After a record number of recoveries the cumulative count of recovered patients in the state has now increased to 1,78,459. The recovery percent in the state is 67.42 and the sample positivity rate is 6.38 per cent.
Out of the 109 deaths reported on Wednesday, 15 occurred at Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani, 11 at Himalayan hospital Dehradun and eight at Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun. Seven deaths each were reported at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh and The Medicity hospital Rudrapur on Wednesday. Similarly six patients each were reported dead at Base Hospital Almora, Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun and HNB Base hospital Srinagar, five patients died at Synergy hospital Dehradun, four each at Lehman hospital Dehradun and Central hospital Nainital on the day.
The provisional state capital Dehradun reported 2352 new cases of the disease on Wednesday. Udham Singh Nagar reported 924, Haridwar 913, Nainital 886, Uttarkashi 592, Pauri 427, Tehri 385, Almora 305, Rudraprayag 232, Chamoli 203, Champawat 200, Pithoragarh 173 and Bageshwar 157 new cases of the disease on Wednesday.
The state now has 77,082 active patients of the disease. Dehradun remains at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 27,958 patients; Haridwar has 12,662, Nainital 7,245, Udham Singh Nagar 6,176, Pauri 5,173, Tehri 4,522, Uttarkashi 2,191, Chamoli 2,185, Almora 2,023, Champawat 1,996, Rudraprayag 1,878, Pithoragarh 1,666 and Bageshwar 1,407 active cases of the disease. To contain the contagion of Covid-19, the state administration has set up 453 containment zones in different parts of the state.
In the ongoing vaccination drive, 38931 people were vaccinated in 543 sessions in different parts of the state on Wednesday. A total of 6,65,280 people have so far been fully vaccinated in the state while 18,39,830 have been partially vaccinated.
