Four deaths; 439 new cases of the disease reported on Saturday
The recent spurt witnessed in the number of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Uttarakhand is getting intensified and fatal. On Saturday the state health department reported the death of four patients of the disease. In the state 1725 patients have so far lost their lives due to the Covid-19. The authorities reported 439 new cases of the disease on Saturday which increased the tally of the disease to 101714 (cumulative) in the state.
The authorities discharged 176 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Saturday. A total of 95825 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage is now at 94.21 and the sample positivity rate is 3.66 percent.
The authorities reported 228 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 85 from Haridwar, 45 from Nainital, 23 from Udham Singh Nagar, 17 from Uttarkashi, 16 from Bageshwar, 11 from Pauri, six from Tehri, three from Rudraprayag, two each from Chamoli and Pithoragarh and one from Almora. No new case of the disease was reported from Champawat on the day.
The health department reported the death of three male patients (72, 62 and 26 years) at Himalayan hospital Jollygrant on Saturday. A 63 year old male patient was reported dead at Mahant Indiresh hospital on the day.
The state now has 2638 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 1101 patients, Haridwar has 686, Nainital 189, Udham Singh Nagar 157, Tehri 138, Pauri 119, Almora 55, Uttarkashi 53, Rudraprayag 36, Bageshwar 36, Pithoragarh 31, Champawat 19 and Chamoli 18 active cases of Covid-19.
In the ongoing vaccination drive against the disease, 45373 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Saturday. In the state 127526 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. A total of 381068 senior citizens (60 Plus) have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state. Similarly 94828 persons in the age group of 45-59 years have been vaccinated in the state.
The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 435 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Saturday.
In Dehradun 104 vaccine sessions were organised in which 3669 senior citizens, 7453 persons between 45 to 60 years of age, 385 healthcare workers and 255 frontline workers were vaccinated on Saturday. Similarly 1511 senior citizens, 2710 persons between 45 to 60 years of age, 87 health care workers and 1404 front line workers were vaccinated in 69 vaccine sessions in Haridwar district on the day.
