Covid-19 surge continues in Uttarakhand

Three deaths, 787 new patients reported on Thursday. A record 1,07,658 people vaccinated in a single day.
The upswing in the number of patients of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in Uttarakhand is continuing. The state health department reported 787 cases of the disease on Thursday which took the cumulative count of the patients in the state to 105498. The department also reported the death of three patients of the disease on the day which increased the death toll in the state to 1712. The authorities discharged 277 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery from the disease on Thursday. A total of 97000 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage is now at 91.94 and the sample positivity rate is 3.58 percent.
The authorities reported 277 new cases of the disease from Haridwar, 239 from Haridwar, 132 from Nainital, 39 from Tehri, 34 from Udham Singh Nagar, 16 from Almora, 12 from Rudraprayag, 10 from Chamoli, eight from Pauri, seven from Uttarkashi, six each from Bageshwar and Pithoragarh and one from Champwat on Thursday.
The health department reported the death of one patient each at Himalayan hospital Jollygrant, Vinay Vishal Hospital Roorkee and Base hospital Kotdwar on Thursday.
The state now has 5042 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 1979 patients, Haridwar has 1521, Nainital 565, Udham Singh Nagar 237, Pauri 190, Tehri 213, Almora 74, Pithoragarh 67, Bageshwar 60, Rudraprayag 44, Uttarkashi 41, Champawat 29 and Chamoli 22 active cases of Covid-19.
A new record was created in the ongoing vaccination drive on Thursday when 107658 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state in a single day.
In the state 166251 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 718 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Thursday. In Dehradun 122 vaccine sessions were organised in which 21424 persons above 45 years of age, 275 healthcare workers and 183 front line workers were vaccinated on Thursday.
In Haridwar 169 sessions were organised on the day in which 13781 persons above 45 years of age, 94 health care workers and 651 front line workers were vaccinated.
