Covid-19 surge continues in Uttarakhand

147 new cases, one death reported on Wednesday
The spurt in the number of cases of Covid-19 in Uttarakhand is continuing. On Wednesday the State health department reported 147 new cases of the disease from different parts of the State. A day earlier 139 new cases of the disease were reported.
Death of one patient of the disease was reported from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh on Wednesday. The State now has 369 active cases of the disease.
The authorities reported 60 new cases of Covid-19 from Dehradun on Wednesday. The department found 29 new cases of the disease in Nainital, 24 in Udham Singh Nagar, nine in Pauri, eight in Tehri, six each in Champawat and Haridwar, two each in Chamoli and Pithoragarh and one in Uttarkashi district on Wednesday. No new cases of the disease were reported from Almora, Bageshwar and Rudraprayag on the day.
The hospitalisation rate in Covid cases is low: Secretary
The health secretary R Rajesh Kumar has said that the rate of hospitalisation in the recent spell of increased cases of Covid-19 in the State is very less. He told The Pioneer that the department has increased the testing of suspected cases of the disease which is reflecting an increased number of cases of the disease. He said that the positivity rate of the disease which was 25.08 per cent on April 16 was at 11.94 per cent on April 17 and 18.
The authorities declared 126 patients recovered from the disease on Wednesday. The department has so far detected 1556 new cases of the disease from January 1 this year in the State. A total 1177 patients have recovered from the disease so far. A total of ten patients have lost their lives from the disease from January 1 this year in the state.
The State now has 369 active patients of Covid-19 with Nainital leading the table with 100 active cases of the disease followed by Dehradun which has 87 active cases of the disease.
