Covid-19- vaccination of frontline workers starts in U’khand

Two deaths, 43 new cases of the disease reported on Monday

In the ongoing vaccination drive against the contagion of Covid-19, the vaccination of front line workers started on Monday. On the day a total of 4247 front line workers were administered vaccine jabs. A total of 4676 people (health care and front line workers) were vaccinated in 100 vaccine sessions held on Monday in different parts of the state on Monday. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that a total of 79083 people have so far been vaccinated in 1445 vaccine sessions in the state. On Monday 19 vaccine sessions were held in Dehradun where 327 health care workers and 433 front line workers were vaccinated. In Haridwar 647 front line workers and 234 healthcare workers were vaccinated in 21 sessions while 625 front line workers and 139 healthcare workers were vaccinated in Udham Singh Nagar district on the day. In Almora 471, Pithoragarh 426, Bageshwar 272, Uttarkashi 233 and Chamoli 204 frontline workers were administered vaccines. 

Meanwhile the number of patients of Covid-19 increased to 96536 in the state on Monday with the state health department reporting 43 fresh cases of the disease. The department also reported the death of three patients from the disease which increased the death toll to 1671 in the state. The authorities discharged 142 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery on Monday. A total of 92696 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage is now at 96.02.

One patient each of the disease was reported dead at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani and Military hospital Roorkee on Monday.

The health department reported 22 new patients of Covid-19 from Dehradun, 16 from Haridwar, two each from Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital and one patient of the disease from Champawat district. Eight districts of the state reported no new case of the disease on Monday. These districts are Almora, Bageshwar, Chamoli, Pauri, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Tehri and Uttarkashi.

The decrease in the new cases of the disease and increased recovery has reduced the number of active patients in the state. It now has only 808 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district which till a few days ago had the highest number of active patients has now less than 100 patients and is at fifth position in the table of active patients.

  Haridwar district now is at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 134 patients. Nainital has 117, Bageshwar 108, Almora 97, Dehradun 94, Pithoragarh 72, Udham Singh Nagar 62, Pauri 30, Tehri 27, Rudraprayag 20, Uttarkashi 18, Chamoli 15 and Champawat 14 active cases of the disease.
