Covid contagion becoming deadly in U’khand

Record 122 deaths reported in single day on Friday. Active patients counts touching 50 K figure mark

The second wave of the contagion of the Covid-19 is becoming deadlier with each passing day. On Friday, 122 patients succumbed to the disease in different hospitals of the day which is highest number of deaths in a single day ever since the contagion started in Uttarakhand on March 15 last year. Only on April 28, the department had reported 108 deaths which was the highest number till Friday . A total of 2624 patients have so far lost their lives to the disease. The death rate in the state is 1.45 percent which is substantially higher than national average. On the day the authorities reported 5654 new cases of the disease which increased the cumulative total of the patients to 180521 in the state.

 The authorities discharged 4215 patients from different hospitals following their recovery on Friday. A total of 124565 patients have recovered from the disease and the recovery rate in the state has now slipped further to 66.69 percent.

Out of the staggering 122 deaths reported on Friday, 20 deaths were reported from Sushila Tiwari Government Hospital Haldwani. In Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun 17 deaths were reported while 14 patients succumbed to the disease in Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) hospital, Dehradun. 

Similarly 12 patients each died at Himalayan hospital and Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun on the day. At All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh six patients were reported dead while five deaths  each were reported at HNB Base hospital Srinagar and Base hospital Almora.

In Dehradun district 1915 new patients of Covid-19 were reported on Friday. Nainital district reported 999, Haridwar 856, Udham Singh Nagar 397, Pauri 366, Chamoli 264, Almora 220, Rudraprayag 166, Tehri 140, Uttarkashi 134, Champawat 105, Pithoragarh 66 and Bageshwar 26 new patients of Covid-19 on Friday.

 The state now has 49492 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 16793 patients, Haridwar has 11075, Nainital 6198,  Udham Singh Nagar 4161, Pauri 2733, Tehri 1611, Champawat 1408, Almora 1284, Chamoli 1251, Uttarkashi 973, Pithoragarh 670, Rudraprayag 779 and Bageshwar 556 active cases of the disease.

 A total of 44691 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Friday. In the state 410918 people have been fully vaccinated while 1660499 beneficiaries have been partially vaccinated. The authorities organised 518 vaccine sessions in different parts of the state on Friday.
