Covid curfew in five cities of Dehradun & Nainital from today evening

In view of increasing Covid-19 positive cases in the Dehradun district, the district magistrate issued orders of Covid curfew from Monday evening. According to the DM Ashish Kumar Srivastava, the curfew will be imposed from 7 PM on April 26 to 5 AM on May 3 in areas under the municipal corporations of Dehradun, Rishikesh and the Clement Town and Garhi cantonments in Dehradun. The Nainital district magistrate Dhiraj Garbyal has also ordered a curfew during the same period in Haldwani, Lalkuan and Ramnagar cities.

As per the Dehradun DM’s orders, commercial establishments like grocery stores, bakeries, licensed meat shops, dairies, ration shops besides the shops of vegetables and fruits would be allowed to open till 4 PM only. However, establishments like petrol pumps, LPG cylinders and chemist shops would remain open as per their usual timings. The banks and post offices will also operate as usual in the mentioned areas during this period. Also, the restaurants and sweet shops would only be allowed to deliver food items through home delivery.

All the offices under the Central Government and State Government will remain closed except those that provide essential services. The vehicles associated with essential services would be allowed to commute only for work purposes during the curfew. Besides this, people attending wedding functions would be allowed to commute to attend functions and wedding ceremonies but only 50 people would be allowed in an event.

 Also, the administration has authorized the commuting of vehicles for funerals but only 20 people would be allowed in a funeral. Besides this, people visiting doctors would be allowed to commute too during this period by the administration. The administration would also permit those people to commute who would be visiting nearby health centres for Covid vaccination or Covid tests. Apart from this, employees and labourers who work in industrial units would be allowed to commute for their work. People who travel through trains, buses and flights would also be allowed to commute during this curfew, as per the DM orders. The DM stated in the orders that the shops would remain open till 5 PM on April 26 and the orders of complete lockdown would come into force from 7 PM. He also clarified that besides the mentioned areas, the remaining areas of the district will follow the orders issued earlier by the district administration as usual which mainly include that the commercial establishments will be closed at 2 PM and night curfew will remain to be the same from 7 PM to 5 AM.
