In latest news from Dehradun, some Covid employees attempted suicide outside Raj Bhavan in Dehradun, demanding extension of their service. However, the attempt was aborted following the quick intervention of the police personnel deployed there in large numbers. They were picked up and taken to police station. The agitating employees said that they had written a letter to the Governor in blood on October 23, requesting his permission for euthanasia. Frustrated over non-response to their euthanasia appeal, some Covid employees gathered outside Raj Bhavan carrying bottles of petrol. Heated arguments broke out between the agitating employees and the police personnel deployed there following which the employees were taken to Cantt police station. Following medical examination, they were produced at the office of the district magistrate and released later on personal bonds. Police sources said that a case had been registered against them, charging them with attempts to breach peace, under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
