Despite heavy snowfall in recent days followed by pleasant weather in Auli, the number of tourists here has registered a drop. The impact of rising Covid-19 numbers in different parts of the country has dampened the expectations of those in the hospitality trade for brisk business in this season. Those in the hotel and tourism related businesses were expecting the number of tourists to pick up following snowfall. However, this is not being seen yet despite the considerable snowfall covering the mountain slopes here in a blanket of white. Home stay operator Deepak Dimri said that he was hoping for good business after snowfall but less than the expected numbers are arriving here. Due to the rising number of Covid-19 cases in different parts of the country, advance bookings are also being cancelled by some tourists.
