Covid fallout- AIIMS- Rishikesh to close general OPD from Jan 24

In view of the increasing cases of the Covid-19 being witnessed during the ongoing third wave of the pandemic, the administration of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh has decided to close the general OPD of the hospital. This decision will come into effect from Monday (24 January). However the emergency services, trauma treatment, and radiotherapy would continue uninterrupted in the hospital. The patients can get the services through the telemedicine OPD which will be available from 9 am to 1 pm on every working day.
Giving information about the decision, the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the AIIMS Rishikesh Dr Ashwani Kumar Dalal, said that General OPD services will be closed from January 24 but emergency services will be kept operational round the clock. He said that the facilities of chemotherapy and radiotherapy for the treatment of cancer patients will continue as before. Dr Dalal said that patients should take advantage of the telemedicine services of AIIMS to avoid unnecessary hassle. He said that every person has to understand the seriousness of the Covid-19 infection and follow the Covid guidelines issued by the Central and State Governments.
