44 deaths, 4368 new patients reported on Sunday
The surge in the second wave of the Covid-19 infection in Uttarakhand is continuing. On Sunday the state health department reported 4368 cases of the disease from different parts of the state. The department also reported the death of 44 patients from the disease on the day. The state now has 151801 cumulative cases of the disease while the death toll has climbed to 2146 in the state. The authorities also discharged 1748 patients from different hospitals following their recovery. A total of 110664 patients have so far recovered from the disease. With ever increasing cases of Covid-19 the recovery percentage dipped further to 72.90 percent on Sunday. The sample positivity rate has increased to 4.25 percent in the state. A total of 33808 samples were collected on Sunday while 30132 samples are yet to be tested in different laboratories of the state.
In Sushila Tiwari government hospital Haldwani 16 deaths from Covid-19 were reported on Sunday. Here 20 patients had died on Saturday. Six patients died at Military Hospital (MH) Dehradun while five patients each died at Max hospital Dehradun and Medicity Hospital Rudrapur on the day. Three patients were reported dead at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Rishikesh, two in Prayas hospital Khatima and one each at Neelkanth hospital Haldwani, Metro hospital Haridwar, HNB base hospital Srinagar and district hospital Rudraprayag on Sunday. One patient who was said to be suffering from Covid-19 was brought dead at District Hospital Rudraprayag.
In Dehradun 1670 new patients of the disease were reported on Sunday. Similarly 1144 patients were found in Haridwar district, 438 in Nainital, 390 in Pauri, 200 in Udham Singh Nagar, 110 in Tehri, 100 in Champawat, 72 in Pithoragarh, 64 in Rudraprayag, 49 in Uttarkashi, 46 in Bageshwar, 43 in Chamoli and 42 in Almora on Sunday.
The state now has 35864 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 12084 patients, Haridwar has 10218, Nainital 4025, Udham Singh Nagar 2502, Pauri 1971, Tehri 1226, Champawat 925, Almora 634, Uttarkashi 574, Chamoli 570, Rudraprayag 479, Pithoragarh 373 and Bageshwar 283 active cases of the disease.
The administration has set up 163 containment zones in different parts of the state in an attempt to prevent the infection from spreading.
In the ongoing vaccination drive the state health department vaccinated 20990 people in different parts of the state on Sunday. In the state 336700 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 523 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Sunday.
