Covid19-; Only 49 new cases, 200 recoveries in U’khand

In an indication that the second wave of the Covid-19 has subsided in Uttarakhand only 49 new cases of novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) and no death from the disease were reported by the state health department on Saturday.  A total of 200 recoveries from the disease were also reported in the state on the day.

The cumulative count of Covid-19 patients in the state has now increased to 3,41,137 while a total of 3,26,651 patients have so far recovered from the disease. In the state 7338 people have so far lost their lives to Covid -19. The recovery percentage from the disease is now at 95.75 and the sample positivity rate is at 5.89 per cent in the state. The authorities collected 27,968 samples in different parts of the state on Saturday.

The department reported 15 new patients from Dehradun, six each from Haridwar and Rudraprayag and five from Nainital on Saturday. All other districts reported less than five cases on the day. No new case was reported from Pithoragarh district on the day.  

 The state now has 1,165 active patients of the disease. Dehradun district is at top of the table in the list of active cases with 437 cases while Nainital is in the second position with 132 active cases. Pithoragarh has 106, Chamoli 90, Bageshwar 78, Rudraprayag and Haridwar 50 each, Udham Singh Nagar 47, Pauri 43, Tehri 38, Champawat 33, Uttarkashi 31, Champawat 75 and Almora 30 active cases of the disease.   

The state reported four new cases of Mucormycosis (Black fungus) and no death from the disease on Saturday. A total of 522 patients of the disease have so far been reported in the state out of which 104 have died.

In the ongoing vaccination drive, the health department vaccinated 24,369 people in 321 sessions held on Saturday.  A total of 9,88,945 people have been fully vaccinated so far in the state while 38,96,016  have received the first dose of the vaccine in the state.
