In latest news from Uttarakhand, as per the press release issued by Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), neither a new crack has developed on the Singh Dwar of the Badrinath shrine nor has there been any incident of land erosion in the shrine premises.  BKTC further said in the release that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has now engaged in repairing the minor cracks that developed in the past on the Singh Dwar of the temple.
Notably, BKTC president Ajendra Ajay had written to the Central government in 2022, informing it about the small cracks noticed on the main entrance of the temple.  Thereafter, the Centre asked the ASI to firm up action plan in the matter.  Subsequently, ASI prepared the action plan for repairs in July 2022. In October 2022, ASI fixed glass tiles on the cracks of the Singh Dwar so that it could be ascertained how wide the cracks were. After studying the glass tiles, ASI started the treatment work on August 9, 2023.
BKTC media in-charge Harish Gaur said that under the ASI-initiated treatment work of Singh Dwar, repairing has been done in the first phase on its right side and now repairing will be done on the cracks on its left side.

Amidst concerns over reported development of cracks on and land erosion around the shrine, BKTC has sought to assure through its press release that   the cracks on the Singh Dwar had been there for a long time and these are being treated now.
