CS inspects Pantnagar Airport expansion, stresses on coordination

The chief secretary, Anand Bardhan inspected Pantnagar Airport during his Udham Singh Nagar district visit on Thursday and reviewed the proposed airport expansion works.

During the review, DGM Civil, Anoop Gupta stated that Pantnagar Airport is being built according to international standards. Notably, expansion work is being carried out at a cost of Rs 380 crore.  Gupta stated that 524.70 acres of land has been allotted to the Airport Authority for the expansion of the airport. Buildings have been demolished and trees have been felled on land allotted to the airport.

Gupta said that the construction of the boundary wall is in progress under the airport expansion project and it will be completed by June.

He further informed the CS that the runway was being constructed as per international standards and along with the new terminal, hangar, ILS facility and cargo will be built and there will also be night landing facility. He informed that ATM, car parking, taxi retail counter, Wi-Fi facility will be made in the existing airport also for the convenience of the passengers. Along with this, helpdesks, first aid and ambulance facilities have also been kept for the passengers.

The district magistrate Nitin Singh Bhadoria said that a guest house has also been proposed on the land adjacent to Pantnagar Airport.
