In latest news from Dehradun, while taking a review meeting of the construction of new Arhat Bazaar at the Secretariat, the State chief secretary S S Sandhu urged the senior officers to expedite the work. He also said that the officers concerned must send timeline reports of every stage of the construction work since the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) started it till the time it is completed. He said that all the basic requirements must be kept in mind while carrying on with construction work of new Arhat Bazaar. He asked the officers concerned to earmark suitable land where the fire brigade office in the under-construction market would come up while stressing that the quality of the work should not be compromised. CS also said that the distribution of the shops should be done before the construction work is completed with all the stakeholders taken in confidence. The shop owners should know which shops are meant for them, he said and added that the suggestions of the shop owners regarding the designing of their respective shops should be sought and acted upon. After the shop distribution process is completed, the shop owners themselves would monitor the quality of the works, Sandhu said. Among the senior officers present at the meeting were the additional chief secretary Anand Bardhan, secretary S N Pandey, Dehradun district magistrate Sonika and the MDDA vice-chairman Banshidhar Tiwari.
