CS visits Kedarnath & Badrinath, checks preparations for Yatra

Chief secretary Radha Raturi visited Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines on Thursday to review the preparations for the Char Dham Yatra. The Yatra will commence with the opening of the portals of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri on May 10.
In Kedarnath, the CS directed the officers to complete all mandatory works before the opening of the portals. She directed that additional workers should be deployed to complete preparations on time. On a stern note she said that special care should be taken to ensure that the devotees do not face any kind of inconvenience .
The district magistrate of Rudraprayag and Public Works Department (PWD) officers informed the CS about the reconstruction and development works currently underway at Kedarnath. She reviewed the progress of the construction works including Mandakini-Saraswati Ghat, guest house, hospital, Astha Path and Kedarnath temple complex and directed the officers to complete all the works before the set deadline.
She instructed the DM to expedite the construction works by using more resources and complete the corridor work from Gol Chabutra to the temple complex speedily . The CS warned that quality should not be compromised in the construction works.
The officiating director general of police Abhinav Kumar, secretary Sachin Kurve and other officers accompanied the CS.
After Kedarnath, the CS landed in Badrinath to take stock of the preparations for the Yatra. The portals of Badrinath temple will open on May 12 this year.
She instructed the officers to make the Yatra of the pilgrims simple, smooth and convenient and added that all the preparations and reconstruction works should be completed on time. Raturi said that alternative routes should also be kept open and well maintained to manage traffic during Yatra.
She directed that special attention should be paid on time lines in the reconstruction works. The CS sought information about the status of construction works at Shesh Netra and Badrish lake, arrival plaza, bus station and river front development works.
