In latest news from Doon, a one-day “IISF’s 2023 Science Outreach” programme under “Jigyasa 2.0 programme” was held at CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun. The organisers said that it was organised for the students from IXth-XIIth class of different government schools-to give them exposure about different analytical techniques used for the characterisation of crude oil and related products, technologies developed for the utilisation of non-edible vegetable oils and cooking oil. A senior scientist Aarti briefed the students about the Jigyasa programme and made them aware of the advanced research work and technologies developed at CSIR-IIP. Another senior scientist Kamal Kumar explained crude oil and its properties as well as different products obtained from it. He also informed students about the climate change due to global warming and how small efforts might help in the reduction of greenhouse gases. The students visited various laboratories such as Bio-technology & Biochemistry Lab, Advanced Crude Oil Research Centre, IR and XRD.
