The culture department has started preparation to celebrate the traditional folk festival of the State Igas at a massive scale in all districts across the State. While giving the information about the said festival, vice president of Uttarakhand Culture, Literature and Arts Council Madhu Bhatt said that the Igas festival will be celebrated 11 days after Diwali in the State, as per tradition.
Uttarakhand is well-known worldwide for its rich traditional and folk cultural heritage. The government aims to preserve the state’s fairs and culture through traditional festivals like Igas.
To preserve the fairs and culture of Uttarakhand the said festival will soon commence across the State, she added. Bhatt further informed that the department has already started creating an action plan to ensure the success of the festival.
