Cyber attack a failure of BJP government: Congress

Saturday, 05 October 2024 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Uttarakhand Congress has criticised the State government for its failure to protect its official websites and software from the cyber attack. The State president of the IT wing of the party, Vikas Negi said that the government works are at a standstill for three days now and all 186 applications and websites hosted by the State data centre of ITDA are closed.

The CM helpline too is not functioning and the process of e-filing in the State secretariat has stopped. The Aapnu portal of the government is also not functioning, due to which the process of making and printing many documents has halted. The entire data of the government is under great risk.

Negi said that the cyber attack is intentional and is aimed at making unauthorised access to any network computer system and digital device with an objective of either stealing information or destroying it. He alleged that with such attacks the cyber attackers are trying to get access to important information.

Negi added that the cyber attack has come at a time when the law and order situation in the State has derailed and the incidents of rape and other crimes against women have become common. He said that instead of taking concrete and effective measures, the government has become only a mute spectator.
