In latest news from Uttrakhand, the Tibetan community people living in and around Nainital celebrated the 89th birthday of their paramoiunt spiritual guru Dalai Lama with pomp. On this occasion, special prayers were offered for his long life and colourful cultural programmes were also organised in the afternoon. Besides, the Tibetan market remained closed on Saturday. The Tibetan leaders said that they will open their establishments on July 10.
The people of Tibetan/ Bhotiya community gathered at the holy Buddhist monastery located at Sukh Niwas at 8 am. Representatives of all the four Tibetan community organisations participated in the birthday programmes that went on throughout the day.
