DAV PG College students union locks principal office alleging negligence

PIONEER NEWS SERVICE | Dehradun

The students union locked the principal’s office gate at DAV PG College here on Saturday against the college administration’s alleged negligence towards ongoing development work. According to the officials from the students union, the reconstruction of the college library has been underway for the past two years. The principal had previously assured that the library would be operational by the end of March; however, due to a lack of follow-through, students have yet to have access to a reading room, leaving them deprived of library benefits.

The students union has repeatedly alerted the college administration about the delays and irregularities in the library renovation. Additionally, they said that although Wi-Fi was once provided on campus, the administration has failed to address the current state of the Wi-Fi service for two years. They further added that on Saturday, student representatives visited the principal’s office to voice their concerns and in a show of protest, they placed the principal’s chair at the main gate. They warned that the principal’s office would remain locked indefinitely until the library is made accessible to students.
