Directs Education DG to take disciplinary action for gross negligence

Taking a stern cognisance of the transfer of a dead teacher in Rudraprayag district the Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat has directed the director general (DG) of School Education to initiate disciplinary action on the officers responsible for the folly. The minister has asked the Education DG Bansidhar Tiwari to set up a committee on the issue which would submit its report within three days.
The minister said that an incident has come to his notice in which a transfer of a dead teacher was done in Rudraprayag district in the annual transfers of teachers. He said that prima facie, the incident appears to be a case of gross negligence by the employees concerned. He said that in view of the seriousness of the case, the Education DG has been directed to constitute a committee which should submit its report within three days. He said that strict action would be taken against those involved in this gross negligence of duty. Rawat curtly told the officers of the department that they should not show any carelessness in the process of transfers and warned that disciplinary action would be undertaken against those indulging in sloppiness.
It is worth mentioning here that the annual list of transfer of primary and upper primary teachers in Rudraprayag district released recently had the name of one Veerpal Singh Kunwar. Incidentally this teacher had died in the year 2018 and prior to his death he had gone from pillar to post for his transfer to school located in an easy to access area (Sugam). However the department’s sloppiness meant that he was transferred four years after his death on July 10 to a Sugam school.
