Deadly Sunday- five including minors die in two separate accidents in Pauri

Five people died in two separate accidents in the Pauri district on Sunday, a day after more than a dozen tourists were killed in an accident in the Rudraprayag district.

During Sunday afternoon, four persons died and three sustained injuries after the driver of the vehicle they were in lost control near Khirsu Chaubatta in Pauri district. The vehicle fell into a 200-metre deep gorge. The officials informed that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team called at the spot retrieved the bodies of four persons including three minors. They were identified as Saumya (5), Arushi (9), Shrishti (15) and the driver Manwar Singh alias Sonu. The team also rescued three injured people and sent them to the hospital. The injured were also minor and were identified as Kanha (11), Sakshi (14) and Samiksha Rawat (15). The SDRF also conducted a thorough search around the crashed car and the essential items recovered were handed over to the district police. The officials also informed that considering the health condition of Sakshi Negi and Samiksha, they were airlifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Rishikesh in the evening. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also directed the officials to take all possible measures to provide the best treatment to the injured persons. 

In another accident, a car carrying six people to Satpuli for attending a wedding ceremony fell about 150 metres down the mountainside near Dudharkhal earlier in the morning. The officials said that the locals informed the police about the accident. The police reached the accident site and called the SDRF to conduct a rescue operation. The SDRF rescue team under the supervision of additional sub inspector Harish Bangari reached the spot and started the rescue operation. The team rescued five injured from the gorge with the help of locals. The injured were sent to the hospital for treatment. The team found one person dead on the spot and handed over the body to the police. The officials said that all the people in the vehicle were local residents who were going towards Satpuli to join a wedding procession.
