The Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat announced the establishment of the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Development Institute (DEDI) in the State, aimed at channeling the positive energy of students. He made this announcement during the Impresario 2025 event held at the Indian Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDII) in Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Rawat highlighted that the Devbhoomi Entrepreneurship Scheme, launched by the Higher Education department in collaboration with EDII, has initiated a revolutionary change in student entrepreneurship. He said that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 promotes entrepreneurship and self-employment and through this scheme, Uttarakhand is setting a new model for the country. Over the past year and a half, students have developed and launched more than 700 products into the market, demonstrating their enthusiasm and success. He noted that significant progress is being made nationally by EDII in entrepreneurship, innovation, research and employment generation. Rawat expressed confidence that connecting youth with enterprises will help achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047. He said that Uttarakhand is establishing a model of spirituality and development. To enhance cooperation between Gujarat and Uttarakhand, an exchange programme for students and teachers will be initiated, in line with the concept of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.
Further, the Higher Education secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha stated that a knowledge economy and an innovative society are essential for development. He asserted that with trust, skill and passion, business ideas can transform into entrepreneurship. He also pointed out that problems can lead to ideas, solutions and opportunities for startups.
The director general of EDII, Sunil Shukla welcomed Rawat and other dignitaries, expressing readiness to provide all possible support to the state for developing an entrepreneurial ecosystem and creating a prosperous India. He expressed gratitude for the cooperation of the State government and the minister’s announcement regarding the construction of the DEDI
